At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person
~ Albert Schweitzer ~
Ancient cultures have passed on the tradition of bonfires and celebrations as the crop seasons end and harvests yield their bounties. The temperatures turn colder and the winds blow more fiercely. It is a perfect month for celebration – and for bonfires.
There is nothing quite as special as a great fire (done safely, of course!) to signify a celebration. You can feel the energy and the heat, while at the same time it provides a gateway to release and let go. You can be alone with it while still sharing it with others.
Here are my top three reasons why I love a great bonfire:
It provides warmth. Once I am sustained again by light and warmth, I am energized to help others do the same.
It brings everyone together. Strengthen those bonds by supporting sharing our bounty with others. Allow others to comfort us when we face hurts, losses and disappointments.
Its grand-ness brings forth a celebratory energy in all of us. It provides us with a way to acknowledge all that has come our way and to release that which is no longer bringing us comfort or support.
What can you celebrate this year?
And how are you lighting up the world around you?
Remember the words to an old campfire song: “It only takes a spark, to get a fire going . . .” Someone may have been a spark in your life this year . . . just as you are the spark for another. What actions can you take to keep that momentum going?
May your inner fire always burn brightly!Make it a Golden Day!
